Google "dog won’t poop in the rain" and you’ll see links all over the place to my personal blog. This is because, for the longest time my dog wouldn’t poop in the rain. I finally figured out the trick to getting him to go outside in the rain.

He has to have an umbrella. This is somewhat of a pain because the umbrella has to totally cover him. This means I have to hold it at waist level, getting myself totally wet while keeping him totally dry. For the longest time he also required boots to go outside in the rain, but I have finally broken him of that habit.

So, if you have a dog that won’t go outside in the rain, try the umbrella trick. Yeah, it’s a pain, but which is worse: Cleaning up dog poo or getting a little wet?
