Luckily, my dog has never been much of a jumper- I despise that in a dog. Here is a cool video from the ASPCA about how to curb this problem. (I know a few people I need to send this to)

Yes, that looks like a good way to do it. I usually just tell my dog to sit. I think the key is to ignore them when they jump and reward when they do something right.
