It really could not have happened at a worse time. Lots of events had piled up to wipe most of my savings out. And then, Tiny got sick. I usually keep money saved for emergency vet visits, but this time, it didn’t work out that way.
Last Wednesday, I noticed Tiny was throwing up a bit more than usual. He seemed fine otherwise, but I was concerned. Thursday, it was the same. Then Friday came and I realized he hadn’t come out from under the bed all day, and I got seriously worried.
I got him out from under the bed and rushed him to my vet, which luckily also happens to be an emergency 24 hour vet. Luckily, we were within regular hours, so we didn’t have to pay extra. Which was good, because I couldn’t afford the X ray they wanted to do on top of everything else. I was so angry at myself and frustrated.
Luckily, all turned out well. They gave him a liquid pack and some antibiotics and a shot to keep him from throwing up. He started perking up a bit that day and by today, he’s just fine. I’m so glad. It haunts me that I had something happen when I didn’t really have the funds to cover it. Starting next paycheck, I’m adding even more to my emergency savings than usual.
I’m just glad it all turned out okay.
