We had a wonderful, glorious, happy cookout at my house this weekend.  I don’t know who enjoyed it more… us or our dogs!

So how do you include pets in your picnic when you have company over?

• First make sure if they bite that they are secured away from your guests.
• If they are friendly, you can put them on parade.
• Have plenty water set out for them (notice the ice cream bucket filled with water on the porch?).
• Keep an eye on them to make sure any “dog-haters” don’t harass them (yes I saw a 12-year old girl try to kick my dog… wasn’t happy but I just removed the dog from the situation).
• Keep an eye on them to make sure any “dog-lovers” don’t cart them home (yes I saw my dog try to ride home with someone since she loves her car rides).
