Backyard Chickens Remain Popular

While my husband continues to say “NO!” to my monthly proposal to get some backyard chickens, I still dream. Especially when I find a chicken coop this amazing. From BackyardChickens.com,

We worked on this for about 8 weekends. Plus a few week nights. It took a long time. We made some mistakes and figured out how to fix them or work with them. But it was a lot of fun (mostly) and a great family project. I’m really happy with how it turned out. Still to do (maybe): add a chicken cam, an automatic door opener, an auto watering system, and landscaping.

It is gorgeous!

Serious Snow, Serious Dog Fun

Although the Seattle area has been walloped by a huge snow fall, there are some who are quite enjoying the snow-mageddon.

Presenting Kate Madison’s dog, Daku,

Awoke to a blanket of white Wednesday and considered myself lucky to have power, despite its best effort to leave me. But my charming personality and wicked ways convinced it stay by my side, unlike my poor 190,000 powerless neighbors.

Cabin fever struck, but not I, rather my dog, who, unlike the electricity, had grown tired of movies, books, and endless pacing.

While they have some pretty serious weather conditions, seeing the happy dog was sure nice.

Sweet Start, Harsh Finish

I was all la-la-la reading the sweet words here by lenguaglobal,

I lick you and jump up against you to welcome you home. I lick you and cuddle up to you when I sense you are sad. I tremble with delight when you are happy and take me for a walk in the park, or invest your time to train me with some patience. (Actually, usually I’m the one training you to do what I want). But we both enjoy it, let’s face it.

la-la-la and then BAM! The last paragraph is a tad gut-wrenching!
